Marraras Mountain Lodge Wedding | Aubrey & Kenny
November weddings in the mountains carry a quiet kind of beauty. The air feels crisp, the light softens earlier in the evening, and the landscape shifts into warm, earthy tones. Aubrey and Kenny’s Marraras Mountain Lodge wedding embraced all of that seasonal character while creating a celebration that felt both intimate and expansive.
We are Josh and Taylor, a husband and wife photography team who document weddings throughout Central Pennsylvania and beyond. Remote venues like Marraras Mountain Lodge offer a setting that feels completely removed from distraction, allowing couples to be fully present with their closest family and friends. The surrounding mountains and open property create an atmosphere that naturally elevates the entire wedding experience.
Getting Ready in Altoona and at the Lodge
Kenny and his groomsmen began the day at a hotel in Altoona, where the morning carried a relaxed and focused energy. Final details came together before they made their way to the venue later in the day.
Aubrey and her bridesmaids got ready onsite at Marraras Mountain Lodge. Having the bridal suite at the venue created a seamless transition into portraits and ensured the day moved at a steady pace without unnecessary travel. Once everyone was dressed and ready, we began with bride and bridesmaid portraits followed by groom and groomsmen photos on the property.
Because everything was centralized at the lodge, the timeline flowed naturally and allowed us to move efficiently between locations while still capturing intentional images.
A Traditional Ceremony at Golden Hour
Aubrey and Kenny chose not to do a first look, saving that moment for the ceremony. There is something powerful about a traditional aisle reveal, especially in a setting as scenic as Marraras Mountain Lodge.
The ceremony took place outdoors, surrounded by mountain views and late autumn color. Since the venue sits in a more remote location, we were able to incorporate drone photography to capture the ceremony space and property from above. The aerial perspective showcased the scale of the landscape and added a dynamic element to their final gallery.
This couple booked photography only and chose to have two photographers present for the full 10 hour day. Having both of us allowed for multiple angles during the ceremony, which resulted in a more complete and visually diverse story. While one captured Aubrey walking down the aisle and Kenny’s reaction, the other documented guest expressions and wide environmental perspectives. The result was a ceremony gallery filled with depth and variety.
As they were pronounced husband and wife, the sun began to dip toward the horizon. The timing aligned perfectly with golden hour, creating a warm glow as they exited the ceremony.
Golden Hour Portraits Around the Property
Immediately following the ceremony, we explored the grounds of Marraras Mountain Lodge for couple portraits. The property offers a variety of natural backdrops, including a peaceful pond and wooded areas that become especially striking in late fall.
Golden light filtered through the trees, wrapping Aubrey and Kenny in soft warmth. November sunsets arrive earlier in the evening, which often works beautifully for wedding timelines when planned intentionally. The combination of mountain scenery and directional sunset light made for some of the most memorable images of the day.
Indoor Reception and Sparkler Send Off
The celebration continued indoors with a reception that felt welcoming and lively. Guests gathered to enjoy dinner, heartfelt toasts, and a packed dance floor that carried energy throughout the night.
Aubrey and Kenny planned a sparkler send off to close the evening. When couples include a formal exit like this, timeline planning becomes especially important. We work closely with our couples in advance to structure the day so that key moments such as send offs happen while coverage is still active. With 10 hours of photography coverage, we were able to document the full arc of their wedding day, from morning preparations through their final sparkler exit.
The sparkler tunnel created a glowing, celebratory ending against the dark mountain backdrop. It was the perfect way to conclude a November wedding at Marraras Mountain Lodge.
