Getting Ready at Rolling Rails Lodge
The morning began with each partner getting ready separately, which is one of the things we love about Rolling Rails Lodge as a venue. The upstairs suite in the main lodge and the Delaney House just a short drive away give each partner their own dedicated space to prepare for the day without any risk of crossing paths too early. That separation builds anticipation naturally and gives us the opportunity to capture two completely different getting ready experiences with equal care and attention.
The detail work and getting ready portraits came together beautifully in both spaces, setting the tone for a day that felt thoughtful and personal from the very first moments of coverage.
A Private First Touch and Vows Before the Ceremony
Before the ceremony Millie and Spencer shared a first touch, standing just around the corner from one another, holding hands without seeing each other. In that quiet moment they exchanged private vows, words meant only for each other on one of the most significant days of their lives.
There is something about the privacy of a first touch that allows couples to be completely present with each other in a way that is different from standing at the altar. The vulnerability of speaking those words without an audience, of holding onto each other before the ceremony begins, creates a moment that is deeply personal and deeply moving to witness and to capture.

With temperatures outside making an outdoor ceremony impractical, Millie and Spencer moved their ceremony indoors to the main lodge space, and it was just as beautiful as any ceremony we have documented at this venue. The high ceilings, large windows, and warm interior of Rolling Rails Lodge create a ceremony environment that feels intimate and meaningful regardless of the season.
The light throughout the day was genuinely beautiful, which is one of the things we love about shooting at Rolling Rails Lodge in the cooler months. Without the harsh direct sun of summer the light is soft, even, and incredibly flattering. Every frame from the ceremony felt warm and full of emotion despite the cold temperatures outside.
Outdoor Portraits in the March Light
Despite the cold we were still able to take full advantage of the Rolling Rails Lodge property for portraits, and the images reflect just how stunning this venue is even in the heart of winter. The stone paths, the surrounding landscape, and the architecture of the property photograph with a quiet drama in March that feels completely different from a summer session at the same location.
Millie and Spencer handled the cold without complaint and the resulting portraits have a crispness and clarity to them that the warmer months simply cannot replicate. The light was working in our favor all day and we made the most of every minute we had outside on the property.

The reception brought everyone inside where the warmth of the room and the energy of the celebration made the cold outside feel like a distant memory. The indoor reception space at Rolling Rails Lodge handled the guest count beautifully, feeling full and celebratory without ever feeling crowded.
Millie and Spencer's first dance included choreographed moments that gave the entire room something to feel. Rather than a traditional slow dance from start to finish they had woven intentional moves into the song that built naturally toward a peak moment that had guests completely invested. From a photography and videography standpoint a choreographed first dance gives us something to anticipate and prepare for, and the resulting images and film reflect exactly that. Dynamic, full of movement, and completely memorable.
